Hello from Rimini!
We have been here for around a whole day, but it was over the span of a night as well. We arrived yesterday (5/22) at noon and we are leaving now at 12:30PM for Montecatini with a stop in Ravenna.
Rimini is a beach town on the Adriatic Sea which is very similar to the Jersey Shore, much to the delight of the guys from NJ with us. The beach stretched on for miles with over 150 neighboring piers offering everything from volleyball and soccer to restaurants and dancing.
Our hotel was much less luxurious than our previous stay in Padua, but we took it more as a Beach House than an actual hotel. The first day we had about three hours of free time to just enjoy the beach and the surroundings, and as you can see below, we did just that!
After our beach time, we took a bit to shower and freshen up and then we got to head over to our next concert venue. We performed in a small church in Rimini but the ceiling was about 40 feet tall and we had a great atmosphere in terms of resonance. We got a very warm reception from the people in the audience and we were able to have some really delicious hand-made food afterwards in our hosted dinner. These are some pictures from the show and dinner, and the giant green things, for clarification, are fava beans, not giant string beans.
We arrived at our hotel late that night and we were able to hang out for a bit and take advantage of some good free wifi to call home and check up on the world.
After sleeping late we had a few more free hours and Cesar and I decided to see the city of Rimini in style by renting some Vespa Scooters. For 20 euros we had a great time for one hour cruising around the city seeing way more than we would have been able to had we walked or used a bicycle. Also (this is for you mom), we had no problems with safety or traffic violations and we made it back safely and soundly without a scratch on the scooters.
So now we have a fun filled day ahead travelling first to some sights in Ravenna and then we will be going to our home base in Montecatini for a few days of well-deserved rest.
Bravissimi! E' sicuramente il modo migliore per vedere Rimini o citta' di media grandezza. Ma mi raccomando: non fatelo a Firenze o a Roma. Troppo pericoloso! Saluta Arezzo per me.
